United Kingdom coronavirus cases took off around March 13 and took a whole month before they started to see the leveling off of the chart above. The UK overtook Spain as the country with the most confirmed infections in Western Europe on May 14. Their numbers have improved but still average over 2,300 new cases per day.

They also had the highest visibility case when Prime Minister Boris Johnson caught the disease. According to a Reuters story, he admitted to the hospital on April 5 after ten days of persistent symptoms. He recovered enough to be released from the hospital on April 12, and is “following medical advice on when to return to work.”
