The East Mediterranean region has been trending upwards since May 1 as countries loosen their restrictive movement policies. Below are countries with the most significant changes in daily cases from May 1-7 to May 24-30.

Countries that doubled (or nearly):

  • Bahrain 145 to 291
  • Kuwait 364 to 803
  • Qatar 773 to 1775

Countries that tripled (or more):

  • Afghanistan 224 to 654
  • Oman 87 to 432 (five-fold)

Due to the combined case level and current growth, this region has elevated to orange status. The only thing keeping this region from being red is a scant 0.70% mortality rate.
